Restorative Dentistry

Restorative dentistry helps to keep your mouth functional and healthy. Procedures are done to correct any issues and to give you a healthy smile. These can include:

Sealants & Fillings

When you get a cavity or have tooth decay, fillings will help to restore your tooth. An amalgam or composite filling may be used to restore teeth affected by a cavity or mild decay. Your family dentist will help you decide which type of filling is best for you.

A tooth sealant is painted on teeth to protect teeth from cavities. Although it is usually used on children, adults can get sealants as well.

Dentures/Partials

When someone is missing all or most of their teeth, they will get dentures to replace them. They fit onto the gums and look like real teeth. Sometimes only some of the teeth need to be replaced. In these cases, partials are used.

Implant-Supported Dentures

If you no longer have your natural teeth but have enough bone in your jaw to support dental implants, you may be a good candidate for implant-supported dentures. These snap into place on top of implants but can be removed for cleaning.

Implants

Implants are typically used for people missing one or more teeth and who may have gum disease. A metal post is implanted, and a restoration crown is later placed on top to resemble a natural tooth.

Periodontal Treatment

Gum disease can wreak havoc in your mouth if it’s not treated. It’s important to seek dental treatment for these issues. Your family dentist can detect the early signs of gum disease.

TMJ Treatment

TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint. People with TMJ have a disorder that is related to that joint. This may be caused by trauma, tension, or misaligned teeth. Treatment is often needed to relieve this pain.

Orthodontic Treatments

Orthodontic treatments are used to correct crooked or misaligned teeth. When teeth are not lined up properly, it can cause problems with speech and chewing. Orthodontic treatments can include braces or other needed gear to correct the problem.
